Fort Bend County Libraries’ Cinco Ranch Branch Library will present a special screen-printing workshop for teens in grades 9-12 on Saturday, October 25, from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon, in the Multipurpose Room of the library, located at 2620 Commercial Center Blvd in Katy. Professional screen-printing artist Charity Pruitt will demonstrate this versatile printing process utilized by visual artists worldwide to create stunning prints and t-shirt designs. Teens will learn about the different elements that go into making a screen print; how ink passes through a stencil to make the design; proper squeegee angle/pressure; heat/curing and basics so the print lasts; and safe posture/hand placement at the press. They will also get tips for the care and washing of them item to ensure a lasting design. The program is presented with the generous support of the Friends of the Cinco Ranch Branch Library. Proceeds from the Friends of the Library book sale and annual membership dues help to underwrite the costs of special programming and various cultural events at the Cinco Ranch Branch Library. The program is free and open to teens in grades 9-12. Seating is limited, however, and registration is required.
