In recognition of National Diabetes Month, Fort Bend County Libraries (FBCL) will present an informative program, “Diabetes Prevention Lifestyle & Nutrition,” on Monday, November 17, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm, at the Mission Bend Branch Library, 8421 Addicks Clodine Road. Ryan Gant, a nutritionist with Fort Bend County Health & Human Services, will provide a clear overview of diabetes and practical steps for managing it in daily life. In this interactive program, gain a better understanding of diabetes and its effects on the body. Learn about the importance of a balanced diet and how to read and understand a nutrition label. Understand why sugar cravings happen and discover strategies to manage them. Gant will also suggest key tools and habits for managing diabetes effectively to minimize its effects on the body. This class is recommended for anyone interested in improving their health or supporting a friend or family member with diabetes. The program is free and open to the public. Seating is limited, however, and registration is required. To register online at FBCL’s website (www.fortbendlibraries.gov), click on “Classes & Events,” select “Mission Bend Branch Library,” and find the program. Participants may also register by calling the library (832-471-5900), or by visiting the Adult Services Information desk at the library.
